Let Down Your Nets

As I was reading a daily devotional, “Make Decisions with Faith and Confidence” the author said we need to put action to our faith like Peter. Jesus told Peter to “launch out” in Luke 5. If you recall in the Bible it says that Peter had fished all night and caught absolutely nothing. But Jesus said unto Peter,

“…Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.” Luke 5:4

Peter said, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing” (v. 5). I love this part though, Jesus knew something Peter didn’t. Jesus knew the only way to rectify a night of fruitless fishing was to launch out. In order for Peter to receive a miracle it required him to have FAITH. Even though Jesus told Peter to launch his nets, Peter only launched his net (one net). Despite not launching his nets as told, Peter still received a miracle at the level of his faith. Had he launch his nets, he would have received a much bigger miracle.

I love this story of Peter in Bible because it shows that faith without works is dead and God will meet you at the level of your faith. Sometimes we feel like we are waiting on God when we have to make a hard decision, but often times God is waiting on us to make a move to demonstrate our faith. Stop allowing disbelief to block your miracles, walk by faith and not by sight. Life is not laid out like a road map, it requires faith to take some paths that are unclear or undefined. Surely when you believe you will have it. Only Believe, Launch Down Your Nets!

God Bless!
