Feeling Thankful

The truth is, life is hard at times.  We live in a fallen world and even though we’ve (Christian’s) been redeemed, we still live in earthly bodies and have to deal with the realities of temptation, sin, disease, loss, pain, and death.  Believers are not wrapped in a cocoon where we are immune to pain.  If you live long enough you will soon find out that there will be tears, sorrows, pressures, and problems.

As I reflect on this year thus far, I can’t help but feel so thankful.  No, everything isn’t perfect in my life and I face trials and tribulations just like everyone else, but there is beauty in my mess.  In fact, I’ve had more than my fair share of ups and downs, stressful moments, serious health struggles, etc…  But God!  I am thankful that even after moments of pain and cleansing tears that I still have my faith.

You may find yourself in a place of brokenness at the moment, and even though God has delivered you before, you can’t imagine how he will do it again as your situation may be very different.  Take your eyes off the past and fix them on Christ whose mercies are new every morning.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider on the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (ESV)  –Isaiah 43:18-19
