Building Bridges Instead of Walls

As human beings, one thing we cannot avoid is relationships. People with whom we work, pray and play. And most importantly, those with whom we share history… namely, our family and friends.

It’s easy to stop communicating with someone who may have hurt us or made us angry. But if you live long enough, this thing we call life will teach you forgiveness and unconditional love.

I’ve learned that some people are in my life for a reason, season, or lifetime. Also, not all relationships are created equal. Sometimes the relationships we have with people that are in our lives for a lifetime are the most difficult. I believe this is so because they teach us lifelong lessons. Once we recognize someone as being there for a lifetime, we must demonstrate unconditional love and forgiveness.

Whether they are there for a reason, a season or a lifetime, accept people and treasure them for however long they were meant to be part of your life. And when they are gone, be thankful for the gifts you received from them when they were here… a reason, a season or a lifetime.
